Commercial Plumbing for Retail Spaces

Plumbing problems have the potential to shut your business down indefinitely. That’s why it’s important to have reliable commercial plumbing in place. There are different types of plumbing available for commercial buildings that are often designed to suit a specific need. Take a look at these types of plumbing for commercial buildings.

Commercial Plumbing for Retail Spaces

Stainless Steel Pipes

While stainless steel comes with a high price tag, it’s a great plumbing material for commercial buildings. Stainless steel can withstand extreme temperatures and is corrosion-resistant. That means investing in stainless steel pipes for your commercial building means investing in plumbing designed to last for decades. Exposed stainless steel pipes can even add to your commercial building’s aesthetic appeal.

Copper Pipes

Copper pipes are another high-priced commercial plumbing option. However, with the high price tag comes an abundance of benefits. Copper pipes are extremely durable and withstand corrosion better than other metal pipe options. Copper pipes are great for both hot and cold water delivery and can handle high pressure. Therefore, it makes a great plumbing material for refrigerant lines and underground delivery systems.

Brass Pipes

Brass pipes and fittings are highly rust and corrosion-resistant. They’re one of the most durable plumbing materials for commercial plumbing applications with a long lifespan. Brass pipes also thread better than stainless steel pipes and are usually safe for both hot and cold water delivery.

Cast-Iron Pipes

It’s common for cast-iron pipes to be used as the primary sewer lines in commercial buildings and for distributing water in those facilities. Cast-iron pipes are made to withstand high pressure and deliver large quantities of liquid. These pipes are highly fire-resistant and suppress noise for water disposal in condominiums and apartment buildings.

PEX Pipes

Cross-linked polyethylene pipes, also known as PEX pipes, offer many benefits for commercial buildings. PEX pipes are extremely tolerant to heat and cold. That means this type of piping can be used for various types of water supply applications. They are also extremely flexible, and therefore can be used in tight and unconventional spaces. It’s recommended that PEX piping not be used for outdoor applications since it reacts to ultraviolet lights.

PVC Pipes

PVC pipes, or polyvinyl chloride pipes, are commonly used in both commercial and residential settings. It’s important to note that PVC pipes do not do well with extended exposure to heat and ultraviolet light. That means it can only be used for indoor and drainage applications. Unlike PEX pipes, PVC pipes will break or splint instead of expand when exposed to freezing temperatures. So if you decide on PVC pipes for your commercial building, be sure to use them in safe settings.
